Mike Waltz, the U.S. representative to the United Nations, announced at the Security Council session that the United States stands with "the brave people of Iran" and holds Iran's regime "completely responsible" for the economic crisis and suppression of freedoms in the country.
He said estimates of the number of protesters killed "range from thousands to tens of thousands" and that internet and communications blackouts in Iran are being done "deliberately to hide the scale of the violence."
The U.S. representative also referenced the 1979 hostage crisis, attacks on American forces in the Middle East, and "support for Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis," saying Iran's regime has been "the largest state sponsor of terrorism" and its actions have caused the death and suffering of countless civilians in various countries.
Waltz concluded with a warning that Iran's regime has become "weaker than ever before" and the nationwide protests are the result of "decades of mismanagement and oppression." According to him, the government "fears its own people" and claims about "foreign scenarios" to justify the protests are "lies."

Masih Alinejad reported horrifying dimensions of protester suppression in Iran at the UN Security Council. Citing reports received from inside the country, she announced that security forces are not only using military weapons against the people, but are delivering "finishing shots" to the wounded in the streets and raiding hospitals to arrest the injured.
Alinejad, referring to the deliberate internet shutdown, described this action as an attempt to hide evidence of "mass slaughter." She stated that according to some reports, the death toll has exceeded 12 to 20 thousand people, and videos sent show piles of body bags stacked on top of each other.
This political activist emphasized that Iranians from every background and class have united to achieve freedom, chanting for an end to sending the country's wealth to proxy groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. She concluded by noting that without technologies like Starlink, the world would never have learned about the depth of these crimes and the situation of people who are even forced to pay money to the regime to receive the bodies of their loved ones.

Ahmad Batebi, a political activist and former prisoner in the Islamic Republic, on Thursday, January 25th, at the UN Security Council session, while describing Iran's critical situation, called for the international community to go beyond condemnation statements and enter the phase of "practical action." Referring to the high number of casualties in the protests, he emphasized that the real figures are far beyond official reports, because the regime prevents victim identification by secretly burying bodies in unmarked graveyards.
In his remarks, Batebi pointed to the presence of foreign proxy forces including Hashd al-Shaabi, Hezbollah, Fatemiyoun, and Zeinabiyoun to suppress the people, saying many of these agents don't even speak Persian fluently. Directly addressing Donald Trump and other world leaders, while thanking them for verbal support, he emphasized that the Iranian people should not be left alone against a regime equipped with financial and military power.
He concluded with a warning that without physical and international support, regime change is not possible, and warned that continued global silence or inaction will lead to the continuation of "mass slaughter and genocide" in Iran.

Ahmad Batebi said at the Security Council session about protests and suppression in Iran: "Iran's regime is not normal or ordinary, it's a cult that has weapons and money in hand, and its mission is to export ideology to other countries."
Addressing Trump, he said the Iranian people need your help, don't leave them alone.
Batebi said you cannot fight the Islamic Republic empty-handed and emphasized to Trump that we need physical action. If you leave the Iranian people alone, we cannot change the regime and the people will be massacred.
Batebi said he was tortured to accept spying for Mossad and the CIA, and added that exactly these same conditions exist now in Iran, where forced confessions are being extracted from protesters to say they are Mossad agents.
