🔸 The United States has sanctioned several Iranian officials, including the Interior Minister and head of the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence Organization. The US Treasury Department announced in a statement that among those sanctioned is Eskandar Momeni, Iran's Interior Minister, because he "oversees the Islamic Republic's police force, a key institution responsible for the deaths of thousands of peaceful protesters." The statement said that Majid Khademi, head of the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence Organization, has also been placed on the US sanctions list, noting that this organization "has been the backbone of Iran's security forces' nationwide campaign of widespread violence, arbitrary arrests and intimidation; a campaign aimed at crushing the wave of protests in Iran." Majid Khademi was appointed to this position following the killing of Mohammad Kazemi, former head of Revolutionary Guard Intelligence, in Israeli attacks during the 12-day war. The US Treasury Department also sanctioned Babak Zanjani as a businessman involved in sanctions evasion. Two exchange offices registered in Britain linked to him have also been placed on the sanctions list.
