The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that Homayoun Shabankareh, a 22-year-old held at Karaj Central Penitentiary, has been sentenced to death by Branch Two of the Karaj Revolutionary Court on charges of moharebeh and espionage. HRANA cited a source close to Shabankareh’s family as saying that the death sentence was delivered to him on Saturday, 25 Mehr. His case was heard by Branch Two of the Karaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Mehdi Sabzevarnejad, known as “Sabzevari.” Mehdi Razavi has also been named as another judge connected with the case. According to information published, Shabankareh was arrested at his home on 24 Ordibehesht 1405 in connection with security developments arising from military clashes. Agents believed to be affiliated with the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps searched his home for about three hours, seized several personal belongings, including his laptop, and transferred him to Karaj Central Penitentiary. After his arrest, Shabankareh was held in solitary confinement in Ward 12 of the prison for 97 days. After the preliminary investigation phase ended, he was transferred to the general ward for only 12 days. Ali Zarei Dooz Darreh Si, a political prisoner and one of those injured during the nationwide protests of 1401, is being held at Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has sentenced him to death on charges of “corruption on earth.” According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Zarei Dooz Darreh Si was sentenced to death on charges of “corruption on earth through extensive political activity, fabricating reports of damage, producing false news, propaganda against the system, disrupting security, and illegally entering and leaving the country.” The sentence was delivered to him on 1 Shahrivar 1405. Mr. Zarei Dooz Darreh Si, who had previously been living in Germany, was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department after entering Iran on 8 Ordibehesht 1405. Reza Zanganeh, a 27-year-old from the village of Kalilabad in Malayer who lives in Karaj, has been sentenced to death on the charge of “waging war against God.” His case has now been sent to the Supreme Court for review of his appeal. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has announced the execution of Majid Adineh, another person arrested during the Dey 1404 protests in Karaj. According to a Tasnim report citing the judiciary, the sentence was carried out on the morning of Sunday, 1 Shahrivar 1405. Majid Adineh was arrested on 19 Dey 1404 in the Mohammadshahr area of Karaj. Judicial officials have claimed that, at the time of his arrest, he was carrying a handgun, three magazines, 30 bullets, two electric stun guns, two tear-gas canisters, a cordless chainsaw, and a bottle of gasoline. The judiciary has called the Dey protests a “coup,” in line with the Islamic Republic’s official narrative, and accused Adineh of cooperating with the United States, Israel, and what it described as “hostile groups.” The Karaj Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death and confiscated his property on charges of “moharebeh through intentional arson,” under the law known as the “Law to Intensify Punishments for Espionage and Cooperation with the Zionist Regime and Hostile Countries.” No information has been released about whether Adineh had access to a lawyer of his choosing, the course of the proceedings, when the trial was held, or how his statements were obtained.
