The prosecutor general and revolutionary prosecutor of Qom has announced that a ruling to confiscate all movable and immovable property belonging to “Sadegh Saediniya,” head of the Saediniya café chain and one of those arrested during the protests of Dey 1404, has been carried out. The judicial official said that his cryptocurrency has also been seized. Ali-Asghar Soltani said Saediniya’s assets had been seized and that steps to confiscate them had been completed. Without providing new details about the evidence in the case, he accused Saediniya of “cooperating with the enemy” during the protests of 18 and 19 Dey. The Supreme Court had previously upheld a sentence of 12 years, six months and one day in prison, confiscation of all his property in favor of the state, and a two-year ban on operating cafés after his release. The charge cited as the basis for the conviction was “media and propaganda activity against national security in favor of hostile groups.” The judiciary has described posting protest-related content on Instagram, supporting calls to protest, closing the chain’s cafés and stores, and encouraging employees to take part in the protests as examples of the charges against him. The hearing in Saediniya’s case was held on 27 Ordibehesht 1405 at the Qom Revolutionary Court. In court, he denied encouraging employees to join the protests and said the closure of the business premises was not intended as an act against the Islamic Republic. Sadegh Saediniya, born in 1356, was arrested in Dey 1404 and transferred to Qom’s Langarud Prison. During the proceedings, an order had also been issued to seal all branches of his cafés. Judicial action against the family has not been limited to Sadegh Saediniya. U.S. President Donald Trump once again spoke about the possibility of a military strike against the Islamic Republic or reaching an agreement with Tehran, stressing that Washington’s goal is to ensure Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon. On Saturday, 2 Aban, speaking to reporters in Florida, Trump was asked how far planning for a possible attack on Iran had progressed. He said: “We’re thinking about doing it, maybe tomorrow.” He immediately added: “Do you really think I’m going to tell you whether I’m going to do it or not?” Without naming a specific time for military action, the U.S. president said: “There’s a chance I’ll do it. There’s also a chance we’ll reach a good, great, beautiful deal.” Trump said Islamic Republic officials want an agreement, but expressed doubts about Tehran’s willingness to abide by any potential deal. “The problem is this: Will they stick to the deal?” he said. Referring to the B-2 bomber operation against Iran, Trump said he could have carried it out a year ago and ended the military action. That’s up to them.” Elsewhere in his remarks, the U.S. president again claimed that all of Iran’s fighter jets and ships had been destroyed during the U.S. military operation. He put the number of ships destroyed at 259 and said they were all “at the bottom of the sea.” Trump also claimed that Iran’s radar systems had been destroyed and praised the performance of the U.S. Navy. Commenting on Iran’s economy, Trump said he had read a report that morning saying Iran’s inflation had reached 301 percent. He also claimed that more oil is now passing through the Strait of Hormuz than before the war began. In response to a question about intelligence reports that the Islamic Republic was stepping up efforts to target U.S. forces and personnel in the Middle East, Trump described Islamic Republic officials as “bad people” with “very bad leadership.” He claimed that Islamic Republic officials had killed 75,000 protesters and told reporters: “You never write about it.” Trump also accused the Islamic Republic of killing large numbers of American citizens. The U.S. president went on to call the Islamic Republic “the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.” Criticizing previous U.S. presidents, he said they should have taken similar action sooner, because, in his view, it would have been easier at the time. Trump again raised the possibility of continuing the military operation or reaching an agreement, saying: “Maybe I’ll have to finish the job, or maybe they’ll make a deal. But I’m not sure.
