Iranian state media published images on Monday afternoon, 4 Aban, showing Mohsen Rezaei, secretary-general of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Abbas Araghchi, foreign minister, welcoming officials from the three countries belonging to the Mecca Pact. Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s defense minister; Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief; and Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkey’s intelligence and security organization, met with Islamic Republic officials in Tehran on behalf of the three countries that are members of the Mecca defense pact. According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the meeting was held at Pakistan’s suggestion, with topics including “regional cooperation, the U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran, and its consequences” on the agenda. Earlier, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who is in Cairo, welcomed the four-way meeting and said: “A large-scale military attack on Iran, as well as a military attack by Iran on the Gulf countries, must be prevented at all costs.” @ VahidOOnLine As senior defense and security officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey traveled to Tehran, the Islamic Republic’s Supreme National Security Council issued a confidential directive to the media, asking them not to offer analysis on the “Mecca Agreement,” whether in support of it or against it. The SNSC communicated five guidelines for covering the meeting to domestic media outlets, asking them to emphasize that the visit was made at Pakistan’s suggestion and with Iran’s approval. The Supreme National Security Council also asked media outlets to stress that, following the recent war, countries in the region have concluded that security can be ensured only through cooperation and participation by all regional countries. Another part of the message said that the visit could pave the way toward a “regionally driven security policy,” and that this process could begin in Tehran. According to the message, regional security, the consequences of U.S. and Israeli military attacks on Iran, the continuation of those attacks, and assistance to the people of Palestine and Lebanon will be among the topics discussed at the Tehran meeting. @ VahidOOnLine 📡 @VahidOnline
