Saturday, January 20th, 2024 - "Prince Reza Pahlavi" issued another call announcing he is preparing to return to Iran. He asked protesters to take to the streets on Saturday and Sunday evenings, January 20th and 21st, starting at 6 PM and to take control of city centers. Prince Reza Pahlavi also called on workers and employees in key economic sectors, particularly transportation, oil and gas, and energy, to begin a nationwide strike.
In his message to armed and security forces, Prince Reza Pahlavi said: "Slow down and disrupt the repression machine even more so that on the promised day, we can completely shut it down."
This is Prince Reza Pahlavi's second call during the January 2024 protests. In his first call, he had invited protesters to take to the streets on Thursday and Friday nights, January 18th and 19th, to chant against the Islamic Republic. Since Thursday evening, the Islamic Republic cut internet access in Iran, but despite this disrupted access, some internet connectivity allowed news of protesters' presence in various Iranian cities to be reported.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, during his trip to Lebanon in an interview with Al-Manar network affiliated with Hezbollah, said: "Iran's situation is generally good, although there are problems that result from sanctions and economic weaknesses."
Referring to the ongoing protests, he said: "There are some protests in Iran, which is natural for any government built on popular sovereignty and democracy. A place where people can express their protests and demands, and this is happening."
Mr. Araghchi also said that "alongside ordinary people, some elements are present who cause chaos, attack public places, and commit arson, which must be carefully considered."
In another part of the interview, Iran's Foreign Minister said that Israeli officials themselves "declare in tweets and interviews that Mossad agents are present in Tehran and play a role in these protests."

🔸State broadcaster IRIB news agency reported the killing of Farajollah Shoushtari during Friday evening protests on January 19th in Ahmadabad, Mashhad.
Farajollah Shoushtari was the son of Noorali Shoushtari, former deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards' ground forces, who was killed in a suicide bombing in 2009.
In his last official position, Farajollah Shoushtari served as acting deputy for political and security affairs of Semnan province's governorate in April 2024. His other background includes serving as general director of the Imam's Executive Staff in Khorasan Razavi province and membership on the board of directors of Housing Bank's capital provision.
The IRIB news agency did not publish details about how Farajollah Shoushtari was killed in its report.
