🔻 Mehdi Tabatabaei, Deputy for Communications and Information of the President's Office, announced on X that Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr has become the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. Mr. Tabatabaei wrote that this decision was made "with the opinion and agreement of Iran's Leader." He replaces Ali Larijani who was killed along with his son, deputy, and bodyguards in an Israeli attack on February 15 at his daughter's house. [So ultimately the attack on Pardis buildings was because of that, and they had falsely denied it?] Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr became Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council in September 2021, replacing Mohsen Rezaei. Brigadier General Zolghadr is one of the IRGC commanders and among the founders of the Ramadan extraterritorial headquarters, which later became the foundation for the formation of the Quds Force (the IRGC's extraterritorial branch) based on this headquarters' mechanisms and activities. The Wall Street Journal reported that thousands of U.S. Marines are set to enter the Middle East on Friday. This coincides with the deadline set by Donald Trump for the Islamic Republic to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to two American officials, two amphibious ships stationed in Japan will enter U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility on Friday and transfer approximately 2,200 Marines from a deployment unit to the region. However, it will take several more days for these forces to reach the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defense has also issued orders to deploy another unit of Marines. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced that after 17 years of legal proceedings, the U.S. government has agreed to a final settlement under which approximately $318 million will be paid to hundreds of victims of terrorism supported by the Islamic Republic. According to U.S. officials, this case involved a 36-story building on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan where hidden interests of Iran's National Bank were revealed through shell companies during judicial proceedings. The U.S. Attorney's Office said these assets had been concealed for years and their proceeds were transferred to Iran's National Bank. Under this agreement, $129 million of the mentioned amount was paid in March 2026, and another $189 million will be paid with interest over the next three years.
