Former Iranian football player Mojtaba Tarshiz and his wife were shot and killed by Islamic Republic security forces on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
According to sports broadcaster and journalist Mojtaba Pourbakhsh, Mojtaba Tarshiz's wife was also killed alongside him. No further details about Tarshiz's wife have been released, but Pourbakhsh wrote that they have two children.
Mojtaba Tarshiz was born in Qaemshahr in Mazandaran province and had played for the teams Tractor, Nasaji, Esteghlal Ahvaz, Fajr, and Mes Kerman.
