At dawn on Saturday, 10 Mordad 1405, the death sentence of Arvin Khairkhahan, who was arrested during the Dey 1404 protests, was carried out at Shahrud Prison. The young protester had previously been sentenced to death by Branch One of the Shahrud Revolutionary Court on the charge of “moharebeh” (waging war against God). According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the news outlet of the Human Rights Activists in Iran organization, Arvin Khairkhahan’s execution was carried out at around 4 a.m. today. A source close to the prisoner’s family, confirming the news to HRANA, said prison officials had not yet handed over his body to his relatives. The source said the family had been told to come at 3 a.m. tomorrow to collect the body, and that the burial ceremony must be held at 5 a.m. Arvin Khairkhahan was arrested during the Dey 1404 protests and subsequently sentenced to death by Branch One of the Shahrud Revolutionary Court on the charge of “moharebeh.” The sentence was upheld without change by the appeals court and the Supreme Court after an appeal. The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced that on Tuesday, 26 Khordad, two more protesters from last year’s Dey protests were executed in Shahroud. The Mizan News Agency identified the executed men as Javad Zamani and Abolfazl Saedi, and said they were executed on charges of “moharebeh” and “corruption on earth.” This is the first execution of protesters in Iran since the announcement of an agreement between Tehran and Washington to end the 40-day war.
